Sitting in a computer chair meditating with a group online. How bizarre and in some ways very revealing is that? We connect while separated being quiet? We observe just avatars that are visual to us, yet it feels like we are all together. There is some continuity of something? Shared focus? The University of Western Australia has a motto, "Seek Wisdom". They hold an annual machinima (a word that is a combination of Cinema & Machine) contest once a year with that at the topic for the entries. I missed last year because of multiple projects but I felt that the Roadside Philosopher could not pass up the challenge to make a movie on seeking wisdom in four and a half minutes. I just turned it in yesterday and it has 94 hits. Most of the movie is filmed in virtual worlds or slides from my real life adventures, since the premise of the film is that there ARE multiple realities even in reality, using virtual worlds wasn't a far stretch. I loved doing the movie, even though it really tried to make a dozen points far less connected than I would have allowed normally.. it was at least visually acceptably entertaining. However, part of the contest also requested a movie poster for the movie. It required that I make it all out to be the STAR and master mind. of.. blah blah blah. I try to explain to people I do not believe my own press. I am more concerned about the concepts than the glory... but take a look see if there was a giggle in this for you. Worked on it all month and still found glitches after it rendered..Replaced it only 3 times trying to fix everything. .. Then I just said.. "That's it." I have found a couple of other errors that occurred after production but will just have to wait for others to find them..
